My name is David Ibitson. I did a Phd in English Literature at the University of Leeds, and currently lecture at North Lindsey College, Scunthorpe. My own research focuses on the popular literature of the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, and I have written on Victorian comedy, Boys’ Own literature, Music Hall, urban exploration and Imperial adventure narratives. I am a big fan of all things Holmesian, and remained unconvinced by Robert Downey Jr.’s suitability for the role. My favorite Holmes so far is Basil Rathbone, although although I reserve the right to frequently change my mind about this.
